How to fix the svchost.exe memory leak?

Has your computer performance become sluggish? Is the CPU utilization of your system almost 100% for most of the time? A reason for this might be the memory consumption by svchost.exe processes. Following steps guide you on how to fix svchost exe memory leak:

First, visit the Microsoft website and download Windows Update v3 indowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe and files fix_svchost.bat, WindowsXP-KB927891.exe and save them to your C:\ drive. Reboot the computer in safe mode by pressing F8 just before the WindowsXP logo shows up during boot. Once Windows has loaded and you have the option of which user account to use, log on as “Administrator”. Go to Start > Run and choose the Browse button. Then, find the fix_svchost.bat file you saved before, press Open, then OK. A black screen will pop up and white text will scroll past. Wait for this process to finish. Once the black screen disappears, open the WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe file by following the same procedure. Follow the instructions of the wizard. When Windows Update Agent finishes installing, repeat the same for WindowsXP-KB927891.exe. Reboot the computer to complete the process.
