01/22 Improving left hand technique
Some players have to do hours of actual physical playing because they rely on what is known as muscular memory, while others can simply look at the score and have it memorised in a matter of minutes. The stamina required to play some of the big works is considerable. An enormous amount of repetition is needed by most people just to keep reflexes active, chord spacings etc. I am working on Debussys antique piano from the kids Corner. I have worked on improving left hand technique for many years, but with little success. One of them is from Debussys 1st Arabesque: In the past, I was holding the bottom note and reaching with stiff, straight fingers, and was always struggling with this section.
