I like things fast; don’t like wasting precious time much. Things can happen in an instant and you have to be ready for anything. You can’t afford to waste any opportunity.
That is why fast food chains are the best invention since fire, for me at least. It is because they allow me to stay satiated without having to spend time and a lot of effort in cooking my own food. If I feel hungry, all I need to do is drive-thru the nearest burger joint or pick up the phone to have some food delivered.
But then, as much as I love fast food, I am very well aware of its health risks. It is unhealthy to eat nothing but fast food all the time. The trans fats content of french fries, quarter pounder burgers, and fried chickens could be enough to kill you slowly years from now.
Although I do exercise regularly, it is not enough to counter the future effects of eating fast foods every single day. That is why I started to look for alternatives—taking into consideration that it doesn’t need to be too time and effort-consuming. At first thought, I wondered if ever such a thing existed.
Then, one day at the grocery store, I found the solution—pickled foods.
The only pickled food I ever tasted was pickled pepper; the one find in your favorite hamburgers. Aside from that, I don’t know anything. I discovered that even asparagus, onions, carrots (!), and garlic.
Since these are very tasty and—more importantly—don’t need preparation, I was instantly hooked! I don’t need to stop whatever I am doing just so I can have something healthy to eat. I’ll simply pop open a jar of pickled pepper or asparagus and I already have a gourmet-like meal.
The good thing about this is you can also compliment other meals—like sandwiches, salads, etc.—with it. Now, I don’t need to depend entirely on fast food. With these pickled items, I can get healthy food fast.
